maghrib.

the prayer escaped your lips as a quiet whisper, holding sentiments that did not burn, that could not whither. do you remember? you craved success in this life and the hereafter. you’d hold your palms close to your face and silently cry, words that you’d recite sincerely leaked tears in the corners of your eyes. today, you look at the stillness of the sky, the sun is low while your faith remains high. while the clouds descend, you fall gracefully as God brings you to your knees. if you could ask for one favour from Him, you plead for His protection to never leave. let the echoes of the wind bring breeze to your prayer, some peace for the fervid desire of loneliness trapped inside your chest. will the warfare you hold close ever end? as you turn your head to the right, then to the left, the calamities your heart once kept safe lets itself go. for it removes the restless oppression. the fears you label as anger, as depression and replaces them with contentment. do you hear the calmness? as you cup your hands together again, you talk to Him directly and thank Him for getting you through this prayer so safely. the darkness of the night slowly comes forth, the pains of heartache no longer burden your heart anymore. your soul is now breathing with ease, with peace that carefully ties together your beautiful remains. but if you feel as if you are starving again. if the peace turns itself into pain and your heart hurls itself into a hurricane, turn to prayer and whisper these sweet words to Him again and again.
