a mother’s love: (dedicated to my madré)
oh, how you smile so gracefully as i place my head onto your chest so carefully. i know God gifted you to me and that you’ll always love and care for me, through all the darkness that i feel and everything that lies in between. when i was three, you were my hero, my queen, now you're my best friend, my safe-space, my peace. you see right through me and everything i hide, you are the one i confide in, forever by my side. you taught me to practice kindness and to never give into my anger or sadness. i always said i’d make you proud and i promise i will, if not today then tomorrow, if not then, the day after and i’ll keep on going until your happiness is all i see. you continuously tell me to chase my dreams, you see so much potential within me. i promise to make a change in this world some day, to let my writing absorb into the skins of others in hope they cherish the lessons that they uncover. know, your prayers are more than enough for me, oh, how important you are to have paradise beneath your feet. a beautiful woman who feels deeply, loves fiercely and cares dearly. see, your tears flow just as abundantly as your laughter, it’s you who i long to take after. you’ve been both my mother and father for all these years, through the childhood tantrums and the endless heartbreaks, you’d wipe my tears and cure my heartache. you raised us alone, you worked endlessly to build a home to ensure that we’d strengthen and grow. see, you are a spring rose in bloom, who encapsulates endless beauty and courage, through all your hardships, i’ve seen you heal and flourish. your words of encouragement and the warmth of your soul puts all of my worries at ease. i’ll forever be thankful because the truth became so clear to see. that i only need you there for me, i only need your tears to be, only need your prayers to see that so many others care for me and that your love is for eternity.
