the calm before the storm.
the clouds sit in the morning sky above you holding the light close, you’re unsure of what today will hold. you wait for what is yet to unfold, your hands are cold. they remind you that darkness is always there, it rests uneasy, with a desire to be let free. your hands, they long to carry warmth, your heart wishes to heal the pain you’ve endured. you’re praying it won’t be like before. you bury your thoughts at night, but they wake up with you the next morning, blocking your heart from finding the light you so rightly deserve. you continue to hold your nerve and patiently sit and observe. maybe the clouds will let the light go today. maybe it’ll bring the warmth to your hands and wash the darkness away. wanting to fight the uncertainty, you bring your hands to the glass and breathe. “don’t let it be this way, don’t let it rain today.” should you burn yourself again to light a spark? should you question the reasons why you fell apart? your hands are tired of pretending, this cycle of falling and rising is never-ending. will you ever reach your happy ending? soon the rain begins to fall, getting heavier with every drop, you pray it stops for your heart can no longer hold on. you’re afraid it’ll become a flood and every atom of light will fade and you won’t find warmth today. see, rain doesn’t wash away the good, it brings it forward, for every raindrop is mercy falling. your heart will find the peace it’s yearning for, your hands won’t be cold anymore. after the rain, the darkness will disappear, the warmth will arrive and your heart would have survived. there is now light in the sky, so embrace it with both hands, you must hold it tight.
